Shaping Governance was founded in 2017 by Su Turner, a former National Leader of Governance and Governance Professional.  Since then, it has become a leading provider of governance support, highly regarded for the positive impact of its services. We have a proven track record of improving governance in schools, trusts, councils, and not-for-profit organisations.

Where it all started

Shaping Governance's beginnings grew from Su's experience as a School Governor and Non-Executive Director, as well as from her work for a National Good Governance Charity.
Understanding the significant time and effort governors and non-executives dedicate to their schools and communities, Su wanted to improve their experiences of governing and their impact on outcomes.
Originally a standalone governance evaluation tool, Shaping Governance has evolved into a comprehensive governance improvement provider renowned for its impactful contributions to schools, trusts, councils, and community organisations.
Shaping Governance lies at the heart of all we do!

Grounded in Practice, Driven by Insight

We believe in a practical and appreciative approach that brings meaningful change. Witnessing the "lightbulb moment" in governors during our sessions fuels our passion. Shaping Governance was founded by our parent company Insight to Impact, a company built on using profound insights to create real impact. Our CEO's extensive experience across various sectors has driven the continuous improvement of governance practices while nurturing a positive and growth-oriented mindset.

"Shaping Governance was the driver to improve the effectiveness of governance."
