Further Education inc College and 6th Form

Further education includes any study after secondary education that’s not part of higher education. Further Education is offered to students aged over 16 at 6th forms, colleges, through work-based learning, or adult and community learning.

Our Experience

We have extensive experience supporting governors of Further Education establishments in fulfilling their statutory and educational responsibilities for children and the setting.

Su Turner, our CEO, was until recently Chair of a outstanding 6th Form Provision, and has provided support to colleges and adult learning settings and their governance. We are also currently working with a national organisation and their local area partnerships, which provide adult learning opportunities in the community.

During her career, Su has worked with local employers to provide meaningful training opportunities for local colleges, and as a Director of a Chamber of Commerce, continued to champion this.

How we help

We have a solid reputation for working with Further Education establishments to ensure that their governors are able to monitor and support the setting to provide the best education for their students.  We support governors to meet their core functions as set out in guidance for FE.  As a member of the board, governors are also charity trustees, and therefore are collectively responsible for the charity and the six main duties under charity law.

Our Shaping Governance Programme works well for Further Education Governors, and we support all governors to learn, share and improve their practice, across all these functions and duties.
